Working for a start-up company, Peter Flippen sold software to owners and executives of HVAC and mechanical companies and enjoyed working with the industry. Peter observed the increasing rate at which his clients were selling their businesses. Little did he know, it was the start of a wave of industry consolidation.

Conveniently, Peter's brother worked as the head of M&A at a large mechanical contractor. After getting his brother’s input and talking with industry owners and executives, Peter launched IEI Advisors in 2018 naming it after his father's company, IEI Construction.

The IEI Advisors team takes pride in the outcome of their journey. A unique blend of HVAC industry knowledge, buyer connections, deal experience, and sales expertise enables us to serve owners with Integrity, Excellence, and Innovation (IEI).


Peter Flippen Managing Partner

With nearly two decades of experience in the facility services industry, Peter founded IEI out of a passion to help HVAC owners exit their businesses. Before launching IEI, Peter owned two businesses and held a position at a start-up. His corporate background encompasses management consulting and software sales. Peter, a University of Virginia business degree holder, also holds two industry certifications.

Rick Case Director of M&A Development

Rick’s twenty-five years of experience as a founder, co-founder, and executive of several companies helps him relate to the challenges of running and exiting a business. Rick’s expertise lies in negotiating deals and creating strong partnerships. Rick focuses on residential contractor M&A for two main reasons. He has a deep appreciation for business ownership and is passionate about helping owners navigate the complex landscape of corporate investment and consolidation.

Aaron Kroll  JD/MBA, Partner, Sterling Point Advisors

Aaron started his career working for an investment bank and then a private equity firm. In these roles, he gained a deep appreciation for small businesses. Later he founded a consulting company specializing in strategy development, marketing, and capital raising for small businesses. Aaron is now a Founder and Partner at Sterling Point Advisors, an M&A advisory firm focused on the lower middle market. Aaron earned a JD from The University of Akron in addition to an MBA, summa cum laude, in Finance. Aaron received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Virginia Tech.
